Even with the blogosphere and rumor mill working in overdrive in preparation for Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference next week, it is never too early to look past that event to what the company could have in mind for the holiday season.
According to the Taiwanese tech site DigiTimes, Apple is planning on releasing redesigned versions of both the iPad and iPad mini. Production would start between July and August with a shipping date in the late third quarter.
Both versions of the product are projected to be 25 to 30 percent lighter, have improved cameras and processing speeds and be running the new iOS 7. There is also rumor of a longer battery life and wireless charging capabilities.
A recent article from the International Business Times examined the report even further and speculated that much like the popular "cheap" iPhone rumor, the new next iPad upgrade will also feature a new, cheaper version.
"Aside from the widely known iPad 5 and iPad Mini 2, Apple will also release a low cost tablet of the size of iPad Mini. The next generation of iPad Mini is said to have a lower price to beat Android-based tablets," the article states.
While all of this is just speculation, there is a good chance that some of these rumors will be touched upon next week when Apple hosts the Worldwide Developers Conference. The Moscone Center in San Francisco, where the event will be held, has a new sign that boasts the beginning of a "whole new world."
