Last week, this blog covered what 2013 was for Apple and what major milestones the company achieved. It was filled with mostly smaller upgrades. The biggest changes were a revamped mobile operating system (iOS 7) and a slimmed down and circular Mac Pro. Aside from that, it was a lot of incremental uptick and spec boosts.
While this is par for the course for a year at Apple, it left many technology fans wanting more. Apple CEO Tim Cook has been teasing new product lines and exciting technology that will debut through 2013 and 2014. While last year may have been considered a slight disappointment, this year could be a filled with big reveals.
That is what a recent Quartz article is calling for. The piece examines several rumors that, if they are to become actual products this year, could lead to a new product line for Apple and not just a better camera or improved code. These major products include:
- iPad Pro – a 12.9-inch tablet that would essentially replace the MacBook Air. It will include the "A8" chip that would improve processing speed.
- Phablet – a larger version of the iPhone with a screen around 5-inches.
- iWatch – rumored for some time, the smartwatch marketplace is starting to pick up but no one has been able to hit a home run.
The speculation is rampant and only time will tell if any of these products actually become a reality. However, many of them seem to be geared toward the mobile enterprise and partnering with an IT consulting firm that specializes in Mac integration can help any business deploy them when they finally hit the shelves.
