Recent updates to Apple's native Maps app, paired with 3D Touch on the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, make it easier than ever to pull up directions to your home or workplace. This feature can be especially helpful for reps working in the field who need to make it back to the office or home at the end of the day from an unfamiliar client location.
Get set up
To add your home and work locations to Maps, first tap on the blue arrow icon on the top left corner, next to the search bar. Then, tap on Home, then Contacts. This will open up your contact card, where you should see the fields for home and work addresses. Once you fill these out, Maps will remember them as specialty shortcuts you can access with just a touch.
Navigate
Once you've added your home and work addresses, pulling up directions to those locations is incredibly straightforward. From the home screen, simply 3D Touch the Maps icon – you should then see a list of shortcuts. You can then choose "Directions Home" or "Directions to Work," and the app will open to a navigation page with the "Destination" field already filled out with the proper address. All that's left is to set your starting point as your current location, and the directions will be up in a flash.
These shortcuts also work in Google Maps, if you prefer the third-party navigation tool to Apple's native version. However, rather than updating your contact card with the address information, you set the details in the app's settings page.
This trick is perfect for workers who are constantly on the move, whether they're making sales calls, visiting clients or performing work in the field. To learn more about how to leverage the latest Apple products to make your workforce more efficient, contact MC services today.
