According to an article from 9to5Mac, later this week Apple will begin an "enormous" iPhone related event at its retail stores in an effort to help boost sales numbers. Citing an anonymous source with "knowledge of the initiative," it will begin on May 8 and see the company contacting upgrade eligible iPhone users with older models via email. They will be invited to come to their local Apple Store to update to an iPhone 5S or iPhone 5C.
Aside from improving sales figures, this is also a way to spread the word on the in-store trade-in program where customers can swap out their old devices for a new one and receive a discount on the new purchase.
