So, the chance to have a personal, extended chat with the man behind it all would seem priceless.
When Apple co-founder and longtime CEO Steve Jobs, passed away in October 2011, many people took to social media to speak of personal encounters with the man and several retail stores became shrines where Apple fans were able to leave their condolences. While new CEO Tim Cook may not have the mystique of Jobs, the chance to speak with him is no less special.
On Tuesday it was announced that the chance to have coffee with Cook at the company’s headquarters in Cupertino was auctioned off by CharityBuzz for $610,000. The proceeds go to the RFK Center for Justice and Human Rights. The cafe in question will be a secret, of course. But you can bet that the best automatic espresso machine will be found serving some delicious java, where ever they happen to be.
There were 86 total bids on the event that was originally estimated to fetch $50,000. The anonymous bidder is able to bring a guest, and sit and chat with Cook for 30 minutes to an hour.
As with all things Apple there is an air of secrecy to the meeting as the winner will need to sign a nondisclosure agreement, is subject to a security screening and are forbidden from liveblog or tweeting the encounter.
