Last week, this blog covered the mixed numbers that were reported by Apple during its most recent quarterly earnings report. Many experts cited the iPhone as the device that is helping to push Apple's revenue, but they should not be sleeping on the iPad either, as another report confirms its domination of the tablet marketplace.
Despite the seemingly down sales numbers from Apple, the iPad is still a massively popular device. According to the recently Chitika Insights report, the tablet saw a small increase in total U.S. and Canadian tablet Web traffic to 84.3 percent in June 2013, which was up from 82.4 percent a month earlier. That is the highest share that the iPad has held so far this year.
By comparison, the Amazon Kindle Fire, which is in second place, accounts for 5.7 percent of tablet internet traffic. That is followed by Samsung Galaxy (4.2 percent), the Barnes and Noble Nook (1.2 percent) and Google Nexus (1.2 percent).
The iPad is also the only device of the top three to experience an increase in internet traffic over the last three months. In April, the iPad stood at 81.3 percent before increase to its current place, while the Kindle Fire dropped from 7.4 percent to 5.7 percent at the Galaxy family of tablets dropped from 4.7 percent to 4.2 percent.
It is impossible to deny that the Apple iPad is a popular device in the mobile computing realm and its increasing popularity shows no signs of slowing down.
