If you receive an unexpected password reset email message from Facebook, there is no need to worry. Attacks on Facebook accounts have increased recently, generating messages like the one below. Essentially, someone is attempting to reset your Facebook password in order to access your account.
Because it is difficult to determine if such an email is a legitimate message from Facebook or just a phishing attack, the best course of action is to simply do nothing. As long as your email account has not been compromised, such messages only need to serve as reminders to have strong, unique passwords for your email account and social media services. We highly recommend turning on two-factor authentication for such accounts as well.
If you do receive a second message saying that your password actually was successfully reset, you should immediately secure your account.
